Question: Who/What got you into basketball?
Oliana Squires: My Dad. I kept trying sports and basketball was one of the last ones I tried and I stuck with it.
Q: What’s your favorite memory as a Bobcat?
OS: Winning the Big Sky Conference tournament, and going to the NCAA tournament.
Q: What does being a Bobcat mean to you?
OS: It’s fun being able to represent women’s basketball and get involved in the community.
Q: What’s your pre-game routine?
OS: I go get Starbucks. I get something new every time, but it’s usually a frappuccino. Then I go and get my ankles taped up and do warm-ups.
Q: Which basketball player do you look up to and why?
OS: Kobe Bryant, because of his scoring ability and because he’s really good at overcoming adversity.
Q: What do you hope to do after college?
OS: Play overseas, coach or be a physical therapist.
Q: What’s your favorite activity besides basketball?
OS: Hiking and being outdoors.
Q: What advice would you give to younger players?
OS: Work hard, be involved in the community and don’t take anything for granted.
Q: Is there a song you listen to before games?
OS: Sometimes we listen to “Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor.
Q: Where is one place you would like to visit before you die, and why?
OS: Vietnam and Panama because my parents are from there.
Q: What are your goals for this season?
OS: Get better as a player and win the conference tournament.
Q: If there was a movie based on your life, who would you want to play the lead role?
OS: Sanaa Lathan, the lead actress in “Love & Basketball.”
