Fall has been an exciting season for Bobcat women’s tennis. Starting off on Friday, Sept. 15, the team shined at the Air Force Invitational. They left the tournament with three singles wins and two doubles victories.
Two weekends later, on Sept. 29 at the Wyoming Invite in Laramie, Wyo., the French duo, Laura Mary and Emma Podeur, took the 48th ranked team in the nation to a tie-breaker. Unfortunately, they took an overall loss from the tournament, but head coach Jon Reeves saw it as a victory, stating that “The Wyoming Invite allowed us the time and opportunity to become more comfortable. As the competition progressed our student-athletes were beginning to relax, allowing their personalities and skills to become evident.”
Their final invite of the fall season took place last weekend, Nov. 3-5, at Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA. It was a dazzling moment for freshman singles player Enni Zander, who took the sole win for the Bobcats on Friday, Nov. 3 with a 3-6, 7-6(3), 6-2 decision.
These highlights of the fall season prove promising as the team heads into the spring semester. Reeves is optimistic about the season overall, and is looking forward to the spring season. “They have made tremendous strides as a team this fall,” he stated. “We have a lot of lessons to learn before they become habit, but the signs show that we are beginning to understand how to prepare and play.”
