Bobcat Hockey sticking to it on the ice

MSU may not be known for its ice sports, but the Bobcat Club Hockey Team is looking to change that. Since it’s inception in 1998, the hockey team has welcomed Bobcats from all over the country. Led by Captain Luke Bing and Assistant Captains Connor Mesec and Bridger Croft, the team is looking to develop on a successful early season.

The Bobcat hockey team plays right here in Bozeman at Hayes Pavilion in the fairgrounds. Their schedule consists of teams from all over the Northwest, including but not limited to: Eastern Washington, Boise State, Montana Tech, Utah State, BYU and University of Idaho. If you haven’t had a chance to see the Bobcats play yet, you still have plenty of time, as their season runs through February with many home games still on the schedule.

President Connor Mesec believes the team’s atmosphere is one of the most welcoming on campus. “The atmosphere is really great, everyone is super friendly,” Mesec explained. “It is one of the best experiences I’ve had in college.” The Bobcats have seen a lot of success and growth in recent years under Mesec’s guidance, including beating Montana Tech for the first time last year in an overtime thriller. Mesec summed up the atmosphere of the Bobcat Club Hockey Team with a fitting quote from the hockey legend himself, “Badger” Bob Johnson, saying, “It’s a great day for hockey.”

If you want to come out and support the club hockey team they are back in Bozeman on Friday, Nov. 10 and Saturday, Nov. 11 against Eastern Washington. Both games will start at 7 p.m.
