MSU Men’s Rugby challenged themselves at a Division I qualifier in Colorado this past weekend, April 14 – 15. They were the only Division II team, playing against multiple nationally-ranked Division I teams.
The team started the tournament against Air Force Academy, with a 20-10 win. In the second round, they led at half-time against University of Colorado Boulder. CU Boulder then pulled ahead to win 20-14. In the third round, MSU faced New Mexico State, losing a close game 24-21.
Overall, MSU continues to improve, as they challenge their abilities against nationally-ranked teams. “Overall it was a good, progressive day of rugby for the program,” MSU Men’s Rugby Captain Ben Morris said. “Each match up we have against these big Division I schools grows our ability. We’re steadily winning more and more of these games.”
MSU Men’s Rugby continues to impress on their dedication to grow and strengthen the program. Their next home tournament takes place this Saturday, April 22, at the Roskie fields at 12 p.m.
