The Montana State Bobcats Men’s Basketball team started the 2016-2017 season strong with an 86-72 win over the University of Montana Western Bulldogs on Nov. 4. The first score of the night came from junior guard Zach Green, a three-point basket for the Cats. The team quickly scored five more three-point goals. The streak ended with a strong dunk by junior forward Benson Osayande. The Bobcats continual offensive pressure forced the Bulldogs to take an early timeout and change strategies. The Bobcats kept the tempo up and led the Bulldogs 41-28 at halftime.
After halftime, a stellar dunk by Bobcats senior guard Quinton Elliot increased the lead even more. The Cats maintained a constant lead over the Bulldogs but it lessened due to a few mistakes by the Cats’ defense. The Bobcats won the game 86-72.
The Bobcats’ next game is on Nov. 11 versus Washington State University in Pullman, Washington. The Bobcats are hoping to build upon their first win to propel them into the rest of the season.
