Montana State Women’s Volleyball Team took on Sacramento State (17-11, 11-3) at home on Nov. 3. Sac State quickly took the lead, but the Bobcats rallied back to win the first set 25-23. However, MSU was not able to capitalize on the momentum losing the next three sets 11-25, 21-25 and 17-25.
“I’m proud of the way our kids battled in the opening set,” MSU Head Coach JJ Riley said. “To be down to such a good defensive team as Sacramento State, that knows how to extend rallies and forces its opponents into mistakes, we stayed focused and really got our block established. It was nice to see our student-athletes make adjustments. We’re going in the right direction.”
MSU had a quick turnaround going on the road to University of Montana, who are 5-19, 2-12 in conference, the next day, Nov. 4. The back-to-back games appeared to have an effect on MSU as they lost in three straight sets (20-25, 24-26 and 19-25).
“This team is battling and we just need to keep working hard to execute things the right way,” Riley said “this process of growth is ever evolving, and to be honest, this group is learning some important lessons as we continue on this journey.”
The Bobcats play against Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Washington on Nov. 10.
