The women’s golf team traveled to St. George, Utah Friday, March 27 for the Pizza Hut Lady Thunderbird Invitational. The Bobcats also hosted the Bobcat Desert Invitational in Goodyear, Arizona March 30-31.
The invitational consisted of 14 teams, ranging from Cal Poly to Northern Kentucky. South Dakota State won the invitational with a score of +33. Oral Roberts placed second with a score of +34, and Grand Canyon University came in third with a score of +35. The Bobcats tied for ninth alongside Weber State University and the University of Nebraska-Omaha with a score of +58. Sophomore Janelle Reali led the Bobcats with a 14th place individual finish, recording scores of 76 and 78.
At the Bobcat Desert Invitational, freshmen Pari Keller contributed to the Bobcats as a scoring team member for the first time on Monday, and fired a 76-80 in the first two rounds of the invitational on Monday. Also leading the Bobcats with 156 were juniors Jaylee Tait and Katie Greear after the first day.
The Bobcats headed into the second day of the invitational in fifth place, and this time it was junior Haylee Folkvord who led the Bobcats with a team low of 74. For the entire invitational, Folkvord and Keller together led the Bobcats with three-round totals of 234. Jaylee Trait finished with 235, and Katie Greear finished with 236.
The Bobcats Desert Invitational featured 11 teams, and seven of those teams represented the Big Sky Conference. The Bobcats finished fifth overall with a score of 939. Grand Canyon University finished in first place with a score of 899, University of Montana came in second with a score of 919, British Columbia finished in third with a 927 and Southern Utah edged in front of the Bobcats with a score of 931 to finish in fourth.
The Bobcats will travel to Maricopa, Arizona April 6-7 to participate in the Cowgirl Classic at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Course.
