Volleyball ends season with back-to-back wins

Bobcat Volleyball wrapped up their season this past weekend, posting two wins. They took on Weber State (7-23 overall, 3-12 Big Sky) in the final home game of the year — and Senior Night — on Nov. 13. Seniors Kasey Schlatter and Zoe Gogan were honored post-game, and Schlatter came out ready to play, posting a match-high 21 digs. Gogan had a season-ending knee injury against North Dakota on Nov. 6, but ceremoniously served the first point in the match before being substituted out on the next play.

Junior Natalee Godfrey posted 15 kills and five blocks and sophomore Kennadie Clute added 13 kills of her own. MSU had a day blocking as well, with freshman Jolie Meade finishing with a career-high eight blocks and sophomore Loni Kreun with seven blocks.

At the end of the night, the Cats came away with a 25-15, 19-25, 25-16, 25-16 victory over Weber State.

The Cats then traveled to Missoula to take on the Griz (6-22, 6-10) in the Brawl of the Wild to close out the season. Clute finished with a match-high 15 kills and Svisco added 14. Defensively, the Bobcats (7-21, 4-12) were led by Schlatter and Clute with 14 and 11 digs, respectively. Meade finished with a team-best five blocks.

The Cats were able to close out the match in three sets, with a 25-23, 26-24, 25-21 victory over their in-state rivals.

The Bobcats look ahead to next season after a last place finish in the Big Sky North division.

On Nov. 19, MSU Head Coach Kyle Weindel’s contract was not renewed for next season. The Bobcats will look nationally to fill the position by the fall season.
