Last Sunday, MSU men’s tennis (9-1) defeated the University of Montana Grizzlies (7-2) with a score of 5-2. This win secured them the chance to play at home this weekend for a share of the Big Sky Conference title. The conference is lead by Idaho State (8-0) and Sacramento State is currently 9-1 on the season.
MSU dropped the doubles point with losses in the No.1 and No. 3 positions both in close 9-8 matches. No. 2 doubles, Markus Schleuter and Javier Martin-Morillas, were the only Bobcat team to win in the doubles with an 8-3 set score.
The Bobcats secured singles victories with No. 1 Niklas Brandes, No. 2 Martin-Morillas, No. 3 Schleuter, No. 4 Diego Campos and No. 6 Harry James. Campos played a close match that ended with a third-set tiebreaker. The other three wins were decided in two sets.
MSU will host Idaho State Sunday, April 21 at 10 a.m. in the Bobcat Tennis Center.
