MSU to host St. Baldrick’s Foundation fundraiser

The MSU Leadership Institute will host its first ever St. Baldrick’s Foundation fundraiser April 12 from 7-9 p.m. in SUB Ballroom A. St. Baldrick’s is a non-profit that is dedicated to funding childhood cancer research.

Individuals can support the cause a couple of different ways. They can sign up as a “shavee” and reach out to the community for donations. On the day of the event the shavees will have their entire head of hair shaved off. If the hair is long enough, it can be donated as well. Individuals can also attend to the event and simply participate in the activities happening throughout the night without shaving their heads.

On Wednesday, the event had raised $10,000. “Our goal originally was $5,000 but we blew through that so we made a new goal of $12,000,” Joey Morrison, a student associate at the Leadership Institute, explained.

The event is free and open to the public and there is not a deadline to sign up. The Leadership Institute encourages everyone to come out and raise awareness and support for childhood cancer.
