Not in Our House task force to facilitate discussion on sexual assault

The VOICE Center has announced the creation and implementation of the Not in Our House task force, set to begin in October.

The task force was initiated by student leaders at the Not in Our State Sexual Assault Summit held in Bozeman Aug. 12-13. It will be comprised of student organization representatives who come together to start a conversation about sexual assault prevention and response on MSU’s campus.

Joe Schumacher, the VOICE Center’s prevention and education coordinator and interim chair of the taskforce, said that the it will provide an opportunity to continue the conversation started at the summit, where students facilitate campus discussion. “As student leaders we want to take responsibility for changing campus culture,” he said.

Groups expected to participate in the taskforce include ASMSU, the Interfraternity Council, the Panhellenic Council, Men Stopping Rape, Students Against Sexual Assault, QSA, the Student Veterans Club and many more.

The first meeting is tentatively scheduled for Oct. 30. Groups interested in participating should contact joesephschumacher@montana.edu.
