MSU student arrested on alleged rape charges

On Monday, Aug. 26, an MSU student was arrested for allegedly raping a teen girl.

Clemente Arciga, 33, is a father and a sophomore in family and consumer sciences. He is currently being held at the Gallatin County Detention Center on $50,000 bail. He is being charged with several felony sex charges, including sexual intercourse without consent.

The arrest comes after a July 20 report filed with MSU police from a woman who stated that Arciga had sexually assaulted her daughter. The girl told investigators that over the course of three months, Arciga sexually assaulted her numerous times.

When asked if the girl was telling the truth, a crying Arciga told investigators, “to a certain extent.” Conviction could lead to Arciga receiving 200 years in prison, $100,000 in fines, or both.
