Sally A. Winn, the vice president of Feminists for Life of America, will present a lecture on April 16 at 6:30 p.m. in the Procrastinator Theater.
The lecture, entitled “Refuse to Choose: Reclaiming Feminism,” focuses on Winn’s experience with an unplanned pregnancy while in college. The experience led her to become an advocate for pregnant and parenting college students, both nationally and internationally. She also founded Indiana Democrats for Life in 1996, before co-founding Democrats for Life of America.
Feminists for Life’s goal is finding practical solutions to address the root causes of why women pursue abortions. The organization played a role in crafting the Elizabeth Cady Stanton Pregnant and Parenting Student Services Act, which helped establish Pregnancy Assistance Fund grants for college campuses. It has also developed a program to distribute pregnancy resource kits to colleges across the country.
The lecture is free, and is sponsored by MSU Students for Life.
