The 90th annual Day of Student Recognition (DSR) — which is held to honor students who excel in areas of leadership, service and academics — will take place on Tuesday, April 9 at 7 p.m. in the SUB Ballrooms.
As a cherry on top, a dessert reception will follow the ceremony.
The DSR started in 1923, but was called Women’s Day and was meant to honor outstanding female athletes. Over time, the emphasis drifted away from recognizing athletic ability and toward recognizing students for other achievements, such as those in leadership and academics. Awards recognizing men were not introduced until 1977.
