MSU high in Peace Corps rankings

MSU is ranked 16th on the United States Peace Corps’ official rankings for its number of graduates volunteering with the organization. There are currently 25 MSU undergraduate alumni serving overseas.

The organization ranks colleges and universities based on their enrollments — MSU is in the 5,000 to 15,000 undergraduates category. The top spot in the category went to Western Washington University which has 73 Peace Corps volunteers.

Peace Corps volunteers live and work overseas for 27 months, often providing assistance in the fields of agriculture, economic development, education, environmental sustainability and health.

Established in 1961, the Corps has had more than 210,000 volunteers in 139 countries. Today more than 8,000 volunteers work in local communities in 76 countries worldwide.
