Student hunter unintentionally fires rifle in Hedges lot

An MSU student accidentally discharged a round from his hunting rifle into the pavement of the North Hedges parking lot on Tuesday, Jan. 22.

According to MSU Police Chief Robert Putzke, police responded to the call of a passerby who heard the shot at approximately 4:15 p.m. Respondents saw a person carrying a rifle in a case and questioned him.

The man, an MSU student and hunter, admitted to accidentally shooting off the round, but no charges are being filed.
