MSU’s Cooley Laboratory has become the first LEED Gold certified building on campus.
The lab, a hub for biomedical research, officially re-opened in October after a two-year renovation that gutted the 52-year-old building. The renovations were designed for reconstruction using largely sustainable and recycled resources.
The prestigious award came from the U.S. Green Building Council for energy-efficient design and construction, which is the foremost program for the design, construction and operation of green buildings.
Gaines Hall was the first LEED certified building on campus, earning a silver certification in 2011.
