Former ACE student accused of sexual assault

Around midnight on Thursday, Oct. 22, a 26-year-old man allegedly provided alcohol and marijuana to minors in his home and engaged in “sexual intercourse without consent” with a 15-year-old girl.

The incident was reported to police at noon the next day by the mother of the minor.

Mohammed Mahdi Al Muhaisen had his first formal hearing Monday morning. He is formally accused of felony sexual intercourse without consent and a misdemeanor for endangering the welfare of children. Detectives at the Bozeman Police Department explained, “Where it goes from here depends on the legal process.”

The investigation of the incident is ongoing, as police and detectives have “leads and follow ups to run down.” Al Muhaisen is currently in custody in the Gallatin County Jail with a bail set at $35,000. If he makes bond, he will be forbidden from contacting anyone under the age of 18 and his passport will be forfeited.

In response to the allegations, MSU police have issued Al Muhaisen a “no trespass” order for university property.

Al Muhaisen, originally from Saudi Arabia, has been a student at the ACE Language Institute on the MSU campus studying English and mechanical engineering.

According to Dean of Students Matt Caires, as of Friday, Oct.19, Al Muhaisen is no longer a student in the program. This, Caires said, is unrelated to the criminal allegations he is currently facing. “[Al Muhaisen] has no relationship with MSU at this point,” Caires said.
