Over the past several years, food trucks have become nearly ubiquitous culinary experience. The ease of access, quick service and generally cheap food has caused these mobile restaurants to explode across the country. Bozeman, like many other towns, has fully embraced the food truck phenomenon. We may have many quality trucks here in town, but El Rodeo Taco Truck rises above the rest.
Located in the seemingly desolate parking lot of the Dollar Spree, the unassuming white bus of El Rodeo does not immediately catch the eye. Though El Rodeo lacks pomp, the truly authentic Mexican cuisine more than makes up for the lack of spectacle.
The street tacos are an absolute must-try and are the most popular item on the menu. The tacos start with a four inch tortilla with fresh onion and cilantro. There is a sizeable selection of meat for the taco including steak, shredded beef and spicy pork, among others. The dish comes with pickled carrots and jalapenos that provide a delicious combination of sour and spicy.
El Rodeo serves many other Hispanic staples such as burritos, fajitas and enchiladas. One dish that is especially worth checking out is the Camarones a la Diabla. This is a sautéed shrimp plate with carrots, mushrooms, celery and onions. It is smothered in a spicy diabla sauce that packs a fine equilibrium of heat and flavor. Camarones a la Diabla, like all other El Rodeo full-sized meals, comes with rice and beans.
Even though El Rodeo uses quality ingredients, they manage to maintain low prices. At $2 a piece, the street tacos are an incredible value. Additionally, most full meals provide an abundant amount of food and are between $11 and $13.
There are many others who have sung the praises of El Rodeo. In 2016,Buzzfeed aggregated Yelp reviews in order to determine the best taco spots in each state. In Montana, El Rodeo was the most positively reviewed location. The reviews were universally favorable with many citing the authenticity of the food.
El Rodeo Taco Truck is located in the Dollar Spree Parking Lot at 2121 W Main St.
