EWB to host recycled fashion show April 5

Adapted from MSU News Service

The latest in sustainable fashion will hit the runway April 5 at the fifth annual Engineers Without Borders (EWB) “Junk 2 Funk” recycled fashion show.

The festivities will take place at the Best Western Grantree Inn on N. 7th Ave. in Bozeman, complete with a full bar. A live DJ will provide mood music, the best outfits will receive prizes and a free shuttle from campus will be available for the transportation-challenged.

Any community member may enter an outfit for the show, and spectators are also encouraged to get creative with their wardrobes. Gently used bike tires, tin cans, milk jugs and inflatable pool toys are just a few acceptable materials you can use to create a show-stopping look.

If you’ve been waiting to showcase your sustainable style and want to enter an outfit, contact Varsha Rao at varsha.rao@biofilm.montana.edu by March 29.

All money raised at the event will go toward continuing EWB’s student-led work providing clean water to schools in rural western Kenya and decreasing the rate of waterborne illnesses in the area.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7 on Friday, April 5. Get your tickets in advance and save $2 — look for an EWB table in the SUB Union Market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the week of the show to get student tickets for $5 or non-student tickets for $7. If you know an EWB member, they can hook you up with tickets too. But you still have to pay for them.
