Two MSU professors were awarded grants from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to help fund undergraduate-led projects. Brock LaMeres, Ph.D., associate professor of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, and John Sample, Ph.D., assistant professor of the Department of Physics in the College of Letters and Science, both applied for the same grant in November 2015 and were notified in May 2016 that they were each awarded $200,000 from NASA to “help give undergraduate students a full end-to-end flight experience from planning to launch.”   LaMeres and his team of six undergraduates will work on RADSAD, a radiation-tolerant computer satellite that will go into space.
